Nordic Tech M&A Outlook Report Q1 2026

While 2025 was the busiest year for Nordic tech M&A since 2022, 2026 began with 93 transactions in Q1 — down from 106 in Q4 25, but nonetheless within the established post-Covid range. A rolling 12-month volume of 453 is confirmation of a market that has stabilised at a structurally higher level.

The SaaS segment saw 53 transactions in Q1 26, marginally down from 54 in Q4 25 and in line with normal levels. Vertical software remains the dominant category, accounting for 64% of software transactions. The IT services and consulting segment contracted sharply to 23 transactions — the lowest level since early 2024 — with hosting and IT services accounting for more than half of transactions in the quarter.

Nordic buyers accounted for 81% of SaaS acquisitions in Q1 26. 40% of non-Nordic buyers were US investors, up from 16% in the previous quarter (32% in total over the last twelve months), consolidating their position as the most active international buyer group in the Nordic SaaS market.
